Classical Panchakarma Therapies

Detox, rejuvenate and restore balance

A state of emotional strain from demanding circumstances makes the mind and body unhealthy. These therapies, combined with yoga, meditation and lifestyle guidance, help you regain strength, clarity and vitality.

Basti

Basti treatment

Basti is a type of Ayurvedic therapy that involves the introduction of herbal oils or decoctions into the rectum. It is considered one of the five main cleansing procedures in Ayurveda, known as Panchakarma.

The aim of Basti is to balance the doshas, or the three vital energies of the body – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. This treatment can help with constipation, arthritis, back pain, urinary disorders, menstrual problems and certain neurological disorders.

Nasya

Nasya treatment

Nasya is an Ayurvedic therapy that involves the administration of herbal oils, juices or powders through the nose. It is one of the five Panchakarma techniques that work to cleanse and purify the head and mind.

Nasya is beneficial for ear, nose and throat disorders such as sinusitis, headache, migraine and cervical spondylosis. It also helps to balance the doshas and improve mental clarity and awareness.

Shirodhara

Shirodhara is a unique Ayurvedic therapy in which a steady stream of warm oil is poured over the forehead. It is one of the most relaxing treatments and is especially effective for stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression, headaches and hair problems.

At Nidra Yog Foundation, Shirodhara treatments are offered with high‑quality herbal oils and experienced therapists, creating a serene and hygienic environment for deep relaxation.

Elakizhi

Elakizhi is an Ayurvedic treatment that uses medicated leaves to relieve pain and inflammation in the muscles and joints. It is also known as Patra Pinda Sweda, meaning leaf‑bundle fomentation.

Warm pouches of herbal leaves are applied over the affected areas followed by a gentle oil massage. Elakizhi improves blood circulation, reduces swelling and stiffness, and enhances mobility. It is beneficial for arthritis, spondylitis, sciatica, back pain and sports injuries.

Njavarakizhi

Njavarakizhi is an Ayurvedic treatment that uses cooked rice to nourish and rejuvenate the body. Also known as Shashtika Shali Pinda Sweda, it involves applying warm bags of a special rice cooked in milk and herbs over the entire body.

This treatment strengthens muscles, bones and nerves, improves skin texture and boosts immunity and vitality. It is especially useful for fatigue, weakness, paralysis, degenerative diseases and general rejuvenation.
